Asperger’s Autism

Even though there are numerous possible Asperger’s syndrome symptoms, one of its main sign is difficulty on socializing with others. The child may have a mild to extreme symptoms of this condition. However, remember that the symptom of Asperger’s syndrome differs from children to children.

Symptoms during childhood

The parents usually the ones that can notice if the child has Asperger’s syndrome symptoms if the child starts to go to school especially preschool wherein they need to interact with their classmates. The following are some of the signs and symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome.

  • They find it difficult to catch up social cues or skills like identifying other’s body language, initiating or maintaining a conversation as well as take turns talking.
  • Doesn’t want for any routine changes
  • Tends to have lack of empathy.
  • Individual’s with Asperger’s autism is incapable to recognize the slight differences in pitch, speech tone as well as accent, which alter the value of other’s speech. The child may not able to understand sarcastic comment or a joke accurately. Similarly, the individual’s speech may also be flat or hard to understand because it lacks accent, pitch and tone.
  • Avoid having an eye contact or stare towards other people.
  • Have an unusual postures or facial expressions.
  • They are engrossed with just one or little interest, which he may be familiar about. Most children with this condition are interested in unusual activities like drawing highly detailed scenes, astronomy or styling houses. The may also show an unusual interest in particular topics like dinosaurs, stars and snakes.
  • They may talk a lot about a certain subject over and over again. One-sided conversations are typical and internal thoughts are usually verbalized.
  • Have a late motor development. The child may also find it difficult or delayed learning in riding a bike, use fork or catch a ball.

On the other hand, a child with one or more of these symptoms does not mean that they have an Asperger’s syndrome. In order to diagnose this condition, a child may have several combinations of the symptoms as well as find it difficulty in social situations. Even though Asperger’s syndrome condition is the same with people with autism, an individual with this syndrome has normal intellectual and language development.
